Amy Ruppel

Amy Ruppel is a North Pacific based painter who works on wood with wax, ink/paint and ink-jet print outs. After applying paint to the surface of the wood, she melts layers of wax, adding in ink/painted birds and streaked computer print outs that she cuts into shapes.

She has VERY affordable sales on her website (prices range from $40-$140) and the next one is March 21st. Her website is AmyRuppel.com.

AJ Fosik

AJ Fosik has been one of my favorite artists for a few years. For his three-dimensional heads which hang on the wall like hunted game, he uses a scroll saw to create the many thousands of little pieces and then dyes them with shoe polish. His modern colors are balanced by the rustic folk look the wood gives his pieces.

Originally from Detroit, he's been nomadic for a while now, after leaving New York where he lived for six years. To see more of his work, google his name - I couldn't find a website.

Parra

This is Parra, the 31 year old Amsterdam based Dutch artist who is also behind the clothing company Rockwell. I scanned these images from the March issue of Juxtapoz Magazine, which my mom was nice enough to give a subscription to for Christmas.

His show posters are especially sought after, and all get torn down within minutes in Amsterdam.

See more of his work and clothing line at RockwellClothing.com.

From Across the Pond

UK born and based artist Ben Newman makes beautiful work. He has an especially skillful use of shape and his color choice really helps to highlight the focal point of his images.

I also really appreciate that he puts circles on the cheeks of his characters.

Tiffany Bozic

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Tiffany Bozic is an Oakland based artist who must have the patience of a god. See more of her amazing work at TiffanyBozic.net.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Fresh Paints, a blog devoted to sharing artwork that I love.

Let's start with one of the big guns. The images above are from Nate Williams, one of my (and everyone elses) favorite illustrators. A few years ago, he quit his technical computer job and moved to Buenos Aires to pursue illustration. Not only does he make HEAPS of incredible work, but he also founded my favorite illustration website - Illustration Mundo (illustrationmundo.com). AND he's nice enough to give a tutorial on his website to illustrators just starting out.

Please visit him at n8w.com. And then at illustrationmundo.com.
